Learn to play the harmonica!
Lessons offered in Blues harmonica, Folk harmonica and Chromatic harmonica. Almost everyone has had a harmonica (harp) at one time or another but few bother to learn it. Lessons are private or group (visit the seminars page for more information). If you don't live in the Vancouver area, you may wish to consider learning harmonica on Skype. Please contact me for more details.
In my classes, you will quickly learn:
- Hand vibrato techniques
- Folk style vs. blues
- How and why the notes are arranged in the order that they are on the harp
- Basic rhythm accompaniment
- Melody notes and how to get them
- Basic blues songs
- History of the blues
- Bending the notes for a bluesy sound
- 12-bar blues and how to accompany it
- Tricks to make your notes sound better
- Microphones and amps
- Jamming with others
There will be exercises handed out so that you leave with lots of work to study. You will also take home a jam tracks CD to practice with.
